PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Located in the Public Safety Building, this project will design and install/construct a master computer system for the Traffic Management Center (TMC). The electronic equipment will allow Traffic Engineering to have remote control of the traffic signals, message boards, and cameras that are on-line with the fiber optics. It will provide real-time information to address the growing traffic needs and congestion. MAG (Maricopa Association of Governments) funds of $600,000 are included with this project.

PROJECT UPDATE
CURRENT PROJECT STATUS
The consultant for the traffic management software is working on the development of additional features and integration of the DMS (Dynamic Message Signs) module is complete. Firewall integration has begun bringing the Bell Road partners back online. Final connection is still pending equipment due to upgrades by Maricopa County. Testing of the DMS module is underway.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
Complete integration of the original Bell Road partners (Maricopa County Department of Transportation and Peoria) shared cameras and signs. The traffic signal controller manufacturer is addressing integration challenges for the adaptive control portion of the software. Testing of the DMS module will occur at TMC and also completion of the closed caption television (CCTV) module.
